Role Overview
We are seeking a Training & Documentation Specialist to serve as a critical bridge between our technical engineering teams and our government clients. You will be responsible for creating high-quality technical documentation and developing comprehensive training programs that ensure our cybersecurity solutions are operationalized effectively. In 2026, as CMMC enforcement and NIST 800-171/172 compliance become strictly required for defense contractors, your role will be vital in documenting the auditable security controls and procedures that sustain our clients’ authorization to operate (ATO).
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Documentation: Author and maintain comprehensive technical artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), User Manuals, and Interface Control Documents (ICD).
- Curriculum Development: Design and deliver training programs (both instructor-led and remote) for users on government cloud platforms and cybersecurity tools.
- Compliance Documentation: Document incident response, audit procedures, and security controls to align with NIST SP 800-53 and CMMC Level 2/3 requirements.
- Knowledge Management: Manage secure document control systems, ensuring the accuracy, classification, and accessibility of all company and client records.
- Process Improvement: Work with systems engineers to document technical functions and system configurations, translating complex technical processes into clear, actionable guides for non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuous Monitoring Support: Maintain version-controlled records of system changes, software builds, and security updates as part of continuous monitoring efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in technical writing or training, preferably within a government contracting or cybersecurity environment.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with federal documentation standards, including NIST 800-series frameworks and CMMC requirements.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with document management systems and version control tools.
- Experience creating eLearning content or instructional materials for IT/Security audiences.
- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust or Secret Clearance as required by specific government contracts.
- U.S. Citizenship: Required for this position.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, MadCap Flare, or advanced Microsoft SharePoint administration.
- Prior experience supporting DOD, VA, or DHS contracts.
- Certification in technical writing (e.g., CPTW) or training (e.g., CPTD).
