Role Overview
We are looking for a Cybersecurity Specialist to join our elite security team. In this role, you will be on the front lines of defending enterprise networks. You will be responsible for identifying threats, managing vulnerabilities, and ensuring that all systems adhere to strict federal compliance standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who stays ahead of the latest cyber threat vectors and understands the complexities of government security requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Threat Detection & Incident Response: Monitor security systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS) for suspicious activity, perform initial triage, and lead incident response efforts to contain and mitigate threats.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability scans (using tools like Nessus or ACAS), analyze results, and coordinate with IT teams to prioritize and implement patches and remediations.
- Compliance & Governance: Support the Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) process by documenting security controls and ensuring systems remain compliant with NIST SP 800-53 and RMF guidelines.
- Security Engineering: Assist in the deployment and configuration of security tools, including Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Firewalls, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions.
- Auditing & Assessment: Perform periodic security audits and self-assessments to identify gaps in the security posture and recommend technical or procedural improvements.
- Policy Development: Assist in drafting System Security Plans (SSP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Incident Response Plans tailored to client needs.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations, preferably supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal agencies.
- Certifications:
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II required (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, or GSEC).
- IAM Level II/III certifications (CISM, CISSP) are a significant plus.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency with security tools such as Splunk, Wireshark, Metasploit, or Tenable.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, Windows/Linux security, and cloud security fundamentals.
- Security Clearance: Must possess an active Secret Clearance (Top Secret preferred).
- U.S. Citizenship: Required for this position.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guides) viewer and SCAP Compliance Checker.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles.
- Experience in automated threat hunting or scripting for security (Python, PowerShell).
